Perazzo pbperazzo@comcast.net February 27, 2005, 10:39 pm "The Davis Enterprise," during the week of July 26, 2004 Patricia A. Johnson Patricia Ann "Pat" Johnson of Davis died July 23, 2004. She was 74. Born in San Francisco on Oct. 4, 1929, to Charles and Kathryn Belton, she grew up in Redwood City with her parents and two sisters. She attended Pomona College and UC Berkeley, where she studied literature and music. In 1950, she married Ralph Johnson. They moved to Davis in 1957 when he accepted a teaching position in the UC Davis art department. The couple later divorced in 1966. Pat Johnson worked on the UCD campus in the political science department for many years. Scores of graduate students came to know her as a friend and relied on her guidance and good humor. After retiring from the university, she found she missed working with students. She began volunteering as a classroom aide in Cindy Finley's first-grade class, first at West Davis Elementary and then at Patwin Elementary. For more than 10 years, she nurtured and was nurtured by "her" first-graders. She and her sister Kay were lifelong friends and companions both at home and on their many travels together. The family fondly remembers many Christmases spent in her home, with Johnson often at the piano leading them in song. Music was a large part of her life. She was an accomplished pianist who continued the pursuit and enjoyment of music all of her life. Her children and friends knew her as a woman with an agile, original mind and a generous spirit. She found great joy in small things. She is survived by her two children, Clay Johnson of Trinidad and Jennifer Johnson of Inverness; sister, Kay Schneider of San Jose; grandson Miles Johnson; step-grandsons, Joshua Holme and Jeffrey Jaeger; daughter-in-law, Christine Hills; and many nieces and nephews throughout Northern California. No services are planned at this time. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the donor's favorite charity. Additional Comments: Submitted with the permission of the "The Davis Enterprise."
