Perazzo pbperazzo@comcast.net February 27, 2005, 10:58 pm "The Davis Enterprise," Saturday, August 7, 2004 Alex Sabbadini Alex Sabbadini died Aug. 4, 2004, in Davis. He was born Oct. 26, 1916, in Rome, Italy. A veteran of the European theater in World War II, he received a Purple Heart. He was a professional fine arts appraiser and auctioneer in Sacramento for 46 years, and served as international president of the American Society of Appraisers and achieved status as a Fellow. During his years as a prominent Sacramento businessman, he devoted countless hours to community service. He used his fine arts appraisal and auctioneering skills to volunteer for the annual KVIE fund-raising auction, various Crocker Art Gallery events, McGeorge School of Law, American Cancer Society and many other organizations. Sabbadini was a board member of the Sacramento Symphony Association and the Sacramento Opera Guild. He served the Boy Scouts of America and the Big Brothers and Sisters. He was the recipient of Sacramento's PTA Lifetime Achievement Award. He was a cancer survivor and volunteered his time to the Sacramento Ostomy Society by counseling other cancer patients in adjusting to normal life. He made Davis his home for the past eight years at Covell Gardens and Sierra Health Care. He was known for his charm, sense of humor and genuine love for family, friends and country. He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Elaine Judy Dreyfus, in 1977. He is survived by his sons, Roger of San Diego and Steve of Woodland; daughters-in-law, Gail and Nancy; grandchildren, Amy Scott, Alex, Camille and Nick; and sisters, Emilia and Fernanda of Rome. The family would like to extend their gratitude to the exceptional staff at Sierra Health Care for their compassionate professionalism. Services will be held Sunday at 3 p.m. at the Unitarian Universalist Church of Davis, 27074 Patwin Road in Davis.
