Rose Salas

Rose Salas died following a courageous fight with lung cancer Tuesday, July 6,
2004, at age 82.

Born Feb. 5, 1922, in Leesburg, N.M., Mrs. Salas was the daughter of the late
Augustina and Reyes Garcia. She was a long time resident of Yolo County, living
in Davis 1940 to 1970, and was a resident of Woodland. She spent most of her
married life at home, taking care of her children. Later on she became
bookkeeper for her husband's business before his death; she then went to work
for Woodland Memorial Hospital until her retirement.

Survivors include her daughters, Ramona and husband Dale Lowry of Davis,
Ernestine and husband Hector Salinas and Alberta Villanueva of Sacramento; sons,
David and wife Lucia Salas of Yolo and Marshall and wife Cecile Salas of
Pennsylvania; 29 grandchildren; 33 great-grandchildren and three
great-great-grandchildren; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in
death by her husband Marshall Salas; children, Ramon, Mary Ellen and Cecilia
Salas; and grandsons, Michael and Vincent Salas.

The family requests memorials be directed to Yolo Hospice; or the American
Cancer Society.

Service: Friends are invited to attend the Vigil service to be held at 6 p.m.
today Thursday, July 8, at McNary's Chapel, Woodland. A funeral mass is
scheduled to be said at 10 a.m. Friday, July 9, at Holy Rosary Catholic Church
in Woodland. Burial to follow at Monument Hill Memorial Park, Woodland. McNary's
Chapel is assisting the family with the arrangements.
