Frank Bullard Elston, Jr

Frank Bullard Elston Jr. died Thursday, July 1, 2004, at Alderson Convalescent
Hospital in Woodland, at age 82.

Mr. Elston was born March 18, 1922, in Woodland, to parents Frank Bullard Elston
Sr. and Alberta Elston.

Raised in Woodland, Mr. Elston graduated from Grant Union High School in
Sacramento in 1940. He enlisted in the U.S. Army in 1943 as a medical technician
and served in the Pacific. He returned to Woodland and worked for Speckles Sugar
and later, for the Yolo County Sheriff's Department. He was instrumental in
setting up the sheriff's substation in Broderick. He was elected chief of police
in Woodland in 1951 and served for 12 years. Upon leaving that office, Mr.
Elston became a golf pro and retired in 1982 at the Yolo Fliers Club.

He is survived by his wife Lenore Elston of Woodland; son, Frank A. Elston and
his wife Belinda of Tracy; daughter, Rickie Elston Kline of Yuba City;
grandchildren, Jordan and Jenna Lenore Elston of Tracy.

He was preceded in death by his parents Frank Bullard Elston Sr. and Alberta
Elston.

Memorials may be sent to the Senior Citizens Center at 630 Lincoln Ave. and
Meals on Wheels of Woodland.

A Rosary will be said at 7:30 pm. Tuesday, July 6, 2004, at Holy Rosary Catholic
Church, 301 Walnut St., Woodland.

Burial will be private.

Kraft Bros. Funeral Directors is assisting the family with the arrangements.
