Born June 14, 1910, in Benton City, Mo., Mr. Parsons had been a Yolo County resident for 67 years. He graduated in Kansas State in 1935. He started the California Crop Improvement Association, a building on the UC Davis campus named in his honor in 1986. He was a member of Davis Rotary and was a president in 1950's. Survivors include his wife, Harriet; children, Bob Parsons and wife, Ann of Longmont, Colo., Elizabeth Minney and husband Jack of Del Rio, Texas, and Larry Parsons and wife Nanine of Lake Alfred, Fla.; grandchildren, Mark Parsons of Boulder, Colo., Frank Minney of Woodland, Ann Helene Treat of Houston, Texas, Roy Minney of Allen, Texas, and Jennifer Parsons of Gainesville, Fla.; and eight great-grandchildren. The family requests memorials be directed to Yolo Hospice, P.O. Box 1014, Davis, 95616; or at URC Foundation, 1515 Shasta Drive, Davis. Services: A memorial service is scheduled at 2 p.m. Saturday, July 10, at the Davis Community Church.
