Wagner died Jan. 1, 2004, at Covell Gardens in Davis, where she had lived since 1995. Born on Oct. 5, 1907, she was 96. Born and raised in Chicago, she graduated from Northwestern University in 1930 and worked as a medical social worker following graduation. After moving to Sterling, Ill., in 1953, she was active in many civic affairs, serving six years on the Community Chest Board, as president of the Sterling Parent Faculty Association and for 13 years as public education chairman of the Whiteside County Department of Public Aid. After retirement, she became interested in genealogy, studying one summer at the University of Connecticut. She was a longtime member of Rock River Country Club in Sterling and served as its Lady's Golf chairwoman and chairwoman of publicity. She was an election judge for Precinct 11. She was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Sterling, the Republican Women's Club, Northwestern University Alumni Association, Chi Omega sorority and the YWCA. She was the beloved wife of the late Franklin C. Wagner, D.D.S. and, following his death, the enduring companion of Louis Marks. She is survived by her son, Franklin C. Wagner Jr., M.D. of El Macero and Chicago and his wife, Sarah. She was the dear grandmother of Megan Bouhamama and Andrew Wagner of San Francisco, and Rachel Wagner of Lake Oswego, Ore. She leaves one great-grandson, Sadiq Bouhamama of San Francisco. Davis Funeral Chapel is handling the arrangements.
