Sunday, May 2, 2004, at age 71. Born March 9, 1933, in Williams, Lt. Cmdr. Persons served 23 years in the Navy as a naval pilot serving on the aircraft carrier "USS Kearsage." Following military retirement, he moved his family to Portland, Ore. working with Intel Computer facility for 25 years. He was raised in College City and graduated from Pierce High School in Arbuckle. Survivors include his sons, Scott, David, Brian, Erick, Greg, Jason and Stephen, all of Portland, Ore; daughters-in-law, Joni, Nahib, Tanya and Sharon; sister and brother-in-law, Deanna and Jerry Hansen of Woodland; and six grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his wife Sue; daughter, Jill; and brother, Robert. The family requests memorials be directed to the charity of donor's choice. Arrangements are under the direction of McNary's Chapel of Woodland. Services: A celebration of life memorial service was held in Portland, Ore. Private burial was held at the College City Cemetery.
