"Patches" Sept. 22, 1908 - Jan. 14, 2006 Grace "Patches" Osborn Hiddleson died at Alderson Convalescent Hospital in Woodland on Saturday, Jan. 14 at age 97. Mrs. Hiddleson was born Sept. 22, 1908 in Baroda Camp, India to Don E. Osborn and Alma Lawson Osborn. She had been a Yolo County resident for 73 years. She completed her training at the Highland School of Nursing in Oakland in 1929 and was a registered nurse for 73 years and a water safety instructor for 72 years. She was a member of the United Methodist Church of Woodland and a volunteer at the Woodland Masters Swim Team, YMCA, the Red Cross, Citizens Who Care, Community Care Car, Out of Sight!, International Toastmistresses Club, Girl Scouts of America, Yolo County Sheltered Work Shop, Wayfarer Center, Easter Seals and Meals on Wheels. Survivors include Mrs. Hiddleson's daughters, Betty Ender of Henderson, Nev., Carol Wright of Woodland and Anne Lumley of Copperopolis; her sons, Don Hiddleson of Utah and Bill Hiddleson of Pleasant Hill; her grandchildren, Dennis, Paula and David James, Julie Harrison, Mike, Steve, Daniel, Mark and Matthew Hiddleson, David and Ricky Wright, Eric and Kelly Martinez and Kevin Martinez-Nusz; her great-grandchildren, Seth, Aaron, Zachary, Nathan, Sara, Loren, Danielle and Christian James, Daniel and Samantha Harrison, Hannah, Michaela, Luke, Sierra, Alia, Sarah and Drake Hiddleson, Heather, Randy and Haven Wright, Joshua and Brooklynne Martinez. She was preceded in death by her husband of 33 years, Chester L. Hiddleson Jr. "the whistling mailman"; her parents; her brother, David Osborn; her sisters, Dorothy Sipes, Carrie Mondol and Alethia Brill and her grandson, Steven Martinez. The family requests memorials in Mrs. Hiddleson's name be directed to the Woodland Recreation Foundation/Hiddleson Pool, 1100 Main St., Suite 260, Woodland, 95695. Services: A memorial service is scheduled for 1 p.m. Friday, Jan. 20 at the United Methodist Church of Woodland, 212 Second St. with Pastor John Sublett officiating. Respecting the wishes of Mrs. Hiddleson, private interment will be held at a later date. A celebration of Mrs. Hiddleson's life is scheduled for Saturday, May 6 at Nelson's Grove, Woodland at a time to be determined. Kraft Bros.
