Harriett Jacqueline Lionberger, longtime resident of Napa, passed away on Jan. 17, 2006 at the Saint Helena Hospital after a short illness. Born January 11, 1927 in Woodland to Ernest and Helen Haskell Schultz, she graduated from Woodland High School. She became an RN after attending nursing school at Santa Rosa Junior College, then went on to earn her Bachelor of Science at Sonoma State University, Master of Science and Doctorate of Nursing Science at UC San Francisco. Her doctoral dissertation was on the practice of therapeutic touch. She was a member of the Nurse Healers Professional Association and the American Holistic Nurses Association. She worked as a nurse at the Queen of the Valley Hospital in Napa, and after earning her doctorate she taught at San Francisco State University. In later years she became an avid genealogist, making regular trips to Salt Lake City with her sister to research her family ancestry. She was a member of the Society of Mayflower Descendants, the Thomas Rogers Society, and the Warren Cousins and Haskell Family Association. She is survived by her husband of 55 years, Carl Lionberger Sr., her sister Scharlott Rus, her brother Robert Schultz, her son Carl Lionberger Jr., and her two grandsons, Theodore and Nicholas Lionberger. Funeral services will be held at the Treadway & Wigger Funeral Chapel, 623 Coombs St., Napa, on Jan. 24 at 2 p.m., with a small reception following afterward. Committal will be at 11 a.m. the following day at Woodland City Cemetery in Woodland. The family asks that in lieu of sending flowers, donations be made for scholarships to the UC San Francisco Foundation/School of Nursing, 44 Montgomery St., Suite 2200, San Francisco, 94104, tel.
