Mrs. March was born Sept. 26, 1929 in Sacramento to Harold and Marjorie Benner. She had been a Yolo County resident for six years. She attended Robbins Elementary, Yuba City High School and UC Davis. After graduation, she worked as a teacher's aide in Fremont for 15 years and was also a housewife and mother for 50 years. She was a volunteer for a Woodland literacy group, St. John's Retirement Village, Friends of the Library, and a member of St. John's United Church of Christ. Survivors include Mrs. March's sons, Ken March and Tom March and his wife Terry, all of Woodland; her grandchildren, Laura Gomez and her husband David, Kristie March, Becky March and Nicole March; her great-granddaughter, Gabrielle Gomez; her sister, Jeannie Lockett and her husband Bill of Knights Landing; her sister-in-laws, Linda Benner of Gridley and Barbara March of Kenner; and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband of 50 years, John Thomas March; her daughter, Carol Sarpy March; her son, Raymond March; her parents; her brother, Hal Benner; and her brother-in-law, Paul March. The family requests memorials in Mrs. March's name be directed to St. John's Retirement Village, 135 Woodland Ave., Woodland, 95695; or Woodland Healthcare Foundation, 1325 Cottonwood St., Woodland, 95695. Services: A memorial service is scheduled for 3 p.m. Saturday, March 25 at St. John's United Church of Christ, 434 Cleveland St., Woodland. Pastors Bill Schroeder and Brad Van Sant will officiate. A celebration of Mrs. March's life will follow the service in the church's social hall. McNary's Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Published in the Daily Democrat on 3/24/2006.
