Mr. Meek was born in Hayward to William Harold Meek and Marguerite Meherin Meek. He grew up in the Woodland area and graduated from Woodland High School. During World War II he joined the Marine Corps and spent three years in the Pacific Theater on amphibious carriers. Upon returning from the war, Meek purchased his first truck and built the Meek Trucking Company with his wife Betty Siess Meek. In the Yuba-Sutter Flood of 1955 Meek carried people to safety on his truck with them hanging from the cab and cattle racks, prior to the bridge over the Feather River collapsing. Survivors include Mr. Meek's daughters, Kathleen Meherin Meek of Santa Rosa and Mary Bowlin of Lake Almanor; his grandsons, Matthew and Joey Bowlin of Texas; his former wife, Ella Wetzel Meek; his brother, Jack Meek of Woodland; and several nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by his wife of 23 years, Betty Siess Meek and his wife, Sally Simas Meek. The family requests memorials in Mr. Meek's name be directed to the charity of the donor's choice. Services: Respecting the wishes of Mr. Meek, private services will be held. The Fehrman Mortuary and Crematory of Chester is assisting the family with arrangements.
