Alvin Fredrick Mitchell of Woodland died at Alderson Convalescent Hospital 
Friday, Oct. 28 at age 75.

Mr. Mitchell was born Dec. 3, 1929 in Findley, Okla. He had been a Yolo County 
resident for 60 years. He served in the Marine Corps and was a veteran of the 
Korean War; for his injuries he received the Purple Heart. He worked for 
farmers and did custom hay bailing with his father. Then worked for Pepsi Cola 
before going to work for and retiring from Caltrans.

Survivors include Mr. Mitchell's wife of 48 years, Frances; his daughters, 
Cheryl Mitchell and her husband Leonard Curnutt of Woodland, Francine Moore 
and her husband Elvin of Dunnigan; his granddaughters, Valerie, Teresa, 
Samantha, Frances Kaye, Clairice and Cherrice; his great-grandchildren, 
Cheyenne, Jay, Dakota, Joseph, Taralynn, Elizabeth, Jessicah, Austin, Tamara, 
Marvin Jr. and Adrianna; his aunts, Lillian Gay of the Marysville area and Ann 
Liddle from Phoenix and numerous cousins. He is preceded in death by his 
parents, Herbert and Marie Mitchell; his aunts, Wilma and Clair and his 
granddaughter, Caryn.

The family requests that memorials in Mr. Mitchell's name be directed to their 
favorite charity.

Services: A graveside service is scheduled for 10 a.m. today, Thursday, at 
Monument Hill Memorial Park, 35036 County Road 22, Woodland, with Reverend 
Larry Love officiating. McNary's Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with 
arrangements.
