Mart Phipps of Orange died Sunday, Nov. 6, 2005 at age 84.

Mr. Phipps was born July 20, 1921 in Rush Springs, Okla. He had been a Yolo 
County resident for 64 years. He served in the U.S. Navy during World War II 
and was the owner of Nielson's Nursery in Woodland.

Survivors include Mr. Phipps' wife of 50 years, Louise Phipps of Orange; his 
daughters, Mary Phipps, Diane Messenger and her husband Scott and Alexandra 
Mason, all of Orange County; his son, James Phipps and his wife Lori of 
Woodland; his grandchildren, Mark and Morgan Messenger of Orange County and 
Teresa and Vanessa Cordero of Woodland; and his sisters, Ora Blevens of 
Sacramento and Opal Dimmick of Kerman. 

The family requests memorials in Mrs. Phipps' name be directed to the charity 
of the donor's choice.

Services: A funeral was held Nov. 11 in Santa Ana. The Fairhaven Memorial Park 
and Mortuary of Santa Ana assisted the family with arrangements.
