Mrs. Schafer was born March 30, 1914 in Loma, Colo. She had been a Yolo County resident for 67 years. She attended school in Greeley, Colo. In the early 1970s, she worked for Contadina Foods in Woodland. For a number of years, she taught Sunday school at St. Paul's Lutheran Church when it was in its original location and volunteered at the Woodland Senior Center. Survivors include Mrs. Schafer's daughters, Lorraine Paulson and her husband Bill, Ruthy Paulsen and her husband Dick, all of Woodland, Carole O'Neil and her husband Jim of Loleta; her son, Ronald Schafer and his fianc?e Carla Fletcher of Woodland; 14 grandchildren; 40 great-grandchildren; 19 great-great- grandchildren; her brothers, Harold Stumpf of Colorado and Herman Stumpf and his wife Hattie of Wyoming; and numerous nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her husband, Chris Schafer; her daughters, Elaine and Delores; her granddaughter, Sandra; her great-granddaughter, Tara Ruth; her parents; three sisters; and five brothers. The family requests memorials in Mrs. Schafer's name be directed to St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 625 W. Gibson Road, Woodland, 95695; Hospice of Yolo County, P.O. Box 1014, Davis, 95617; or to the charity of the donor's choice. Services: Visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 2 at McNary's Chapel, 458 College St., Woodland. A funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, Feb. 3 at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, 625 W. Gibson Road, Woodland with Pastor Hank Scherer officiating. Interment will be at Woodland Cemetery following the service. McNary's Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements. Published in the Daily Democrat on 2/1/2006.
