Sheldon died in his home in Brooks Saturday, Nov. 5, 2005 at age 87. Mr. Sheldon was born Nov. 11, 1917 in El Campo, Texas to Earl and Pearl (Barley) Sheldon. He had been a Yolo County resident for 24 years. He served in the Army Air Corps during World War II, seeing action in the East Indies and the South Pacific. He participated in the battles for Papua, Guadalcanal, among others. He was awarded the good conduct medal, the distinguished unit badge the Asia-Pacific campaign medal and the Asiatic Victory medal. In 1981 he retired from the sheet metal business in Southern California. Survivors include Mr. Sheldon's wife of 33 years, Bobbie (Patterson) Sheldon; his children, Linda Benson, Chris Foisy and her husband Jack, Linda Morgan and her husband John, Maureen Wright, Valerie Benson, Jim Sauls and his wife Denise, Bernie Sauls; nine grandchildren; 9 great-grandchildren; his first wife, Katharine Sheldon; his sisters, Doretha Griffin, Violet Smithburg; his brothers, Leon, Stan, Carroll, Sid and Darrell; and 27 nieces and nephews. The family requests memorials in Mr. Sheldon's name be directed to the Alzheimer's Association, 530 Bercut Drive, Suite A, Sacramento, 95814. Services: Viewing and visitation is scheduled from 5 to 8 p.m. Thursday, Nov. 10 at Kraft Bros. Chapel, 175 Second St., Woodland. A funeral is scheduled for 10 a.m. Friday, Nov. 11 at Kraft Bros. Interment, with full military honors, will follow the service at Capay Cemetery in Esparto. Kraft Bros. Funeral Directors is assisting the family with arrangements.
