Born on Sept. 3, 1925, Mrs. Stafford was 80 years old and a longtime resident of Davis, moving there in 1951. Mrs. Stafford was born in Sparks, Nev., and was a descendent of one of Nevada's early pioneering families. She graduated from Humboldt High School in Winnemucca, at 16 and went on to St. Francis School of Nursing in San Francisco becoming a registered nurse at the age of 20. She worked in Woodland, from 1960 to 1984 as an obstetric nurse at Yolo General and Woodland Memorial hospitals. Mrs. Stafford was widowed in 1958 and raised four children as a single mother. She is survived by her son, David Stafford, of Reno; her daughters, JoAnn Achammer and husband David, of Golden Valley, Ariz.; Janice Stafford of Davis; and Judy Stafford of Dixon. She is also survived by her beloved grandchildren, Paul Sage Jared III of San Rafael; Wade Leach of Davis; and Christal Stafford- O'Dell of Dixon. She was preceded in death by her husband, Ralph Stafford; parents, Ruth (Organ Hubbard) and Alfred D. Austin; and brother, Dale Austin. Services: A visitation is scheduled from 6 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 11, at the Davis Funeral Chapel. She will be laid to rest beside her husband at Golden Gate Cemetery in San Bruno. Burial will be private. The family has scheduled a memorial celebration of her life at the home of John and Darlene Doerr, 815 Braddock Court, Davis, from 1 to 4 p.m., Saturday, Oct. 15. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in her name be made to Yolo Hospice, P.O. Box 101, Davis, 95617-1014. The Davis Funeral Chapel is assisting the family with arrangements.
