Mr. Watterson was born Aug. 7, 1921 in Las Vegas to William and Stella (Daniels) Watterson. He had been a Yolo County resident for 66 years. After serving in the Civilian Conservation Corps in 1939, he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving during World War II from 1942 to 1946. For his service, he received the Good Conduct, American Campaign, European Campaign, African Campaign, Middle Eastern Campaign and World War II Victory medals. Upon returning to Woodland, he went to work for the city of Woodland as a truck driver for 36 years, and the Yolo County Sheriff's Department as a transportation officer for 10 years. Survivors include Mr. Watterson's wife of 49 years, Edna Watterson of Woodland; his son Jeffrey Watterson and his wife Rhonda of Esparto; his stepsons, Tim Roemer of St. Helena and Richard Roemer of Florence; seven grandchildren; eight great-grandchildren; two great-great-grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his sisters, Edna Goodman, Pearl Vanderlaan and Ann Theisen; and his brother, Henry Watterson. The family requests memorials in Mr. Watterson's name be directed to Yolo Hospice, P.O. Box 1014, Davis, 95617. Services: Graveside services are scheduled for 2 p.m. Thursday, Jan. 26 at Monument Hill Memorial Park, 35036 County Road 22, Woodland with Pastor John Sublett of Woodland United Methodist Church officiating.
