Mr. Williams was born on June 30, 1918, and was one of six children of Pearl Eaves and Ernest Williams of Lorenzo, Texas. Mr. Williams graduated from Texas Tech University in Lubbock. He married Frances Cleveland in 1943 and then reported for duty to the U.S. Navy where he served as a lieutenant stationed in Bremerhaven, Germany, during WWII. After being discharged, Mr. Williams enrolled at the university of Oklahoma, receiving a master's degree in mechanical engineering. Mr. Williams returned to Texas Tech as an assistant professor of engineering. Later he went to work for Hughes Aircraft in Tucson, Ariz. In 1956, Mr. Williams and his wife and their two daughters moved to California where he worked for Litton Industries. Upon his retirement the family moved to Santa Paula where they owned an operated a citrus and avocado ranch for the next 20 years. The couple moved to Davis in 1996 and celebrated their 61st anniversary before Frances died in May 2005. Mr. Williams is survived by daughters, Katrina Steiner and her husband James of Ventura, and Karen Slinkard and her husband Stephen of Davis. He is also survived by grandchildren, Christopher Steiner and Matthew Steiner of Las Vegas, Donovan Slinkard of Sacramento, Dustin Steiner of Washington, D.C., Megan Slinkard of Albuquerque, N.M., Shannon Steiner of San Diego and Monica Slinkard of Davidson, N.C. Services: The family plans a private celebration of Mr. Williams' life and requests memorial contributions to the Alzheimer's Association of Ventura county, 1339 Del Norte Road, Camarillo, 93010. Evergreen Funeral Services of woodland is assisting the family with arrangements. Published in the Daily Democrat on 2/26/2006.
