Durham - A funeral for Miriam Fay Huntington Coon, 77, of Durham will be held 
at 10 am on Thursday at Newton-Bracewell Chico Funeral Home. She died Monday, 
Aug. 10, 1998, at a local hospital. She was born April 13, 1921, to Warren and 
Dorothy Huntington in Marysville and was raised in Sutter. On June 27, 1943, 
she married Jack Coon, who died in January. Mrs Coon graduated from San Jose 
State with a BA and earned her teaching credentials at Chico State. After 
teaching at Hamilton City high school she was a postal clerk at the Durham Post 
Office for 26 years, retiring in 1981. She enjoyed gardening, traveling and 
reading. She was an active member of the Durham American Legion Auxiliary and 
the Durham Woman's Club. Visitation will be held Wednesday from 6 to 7 p.m. at 
the funeral home. 
Interment will follow the service at the Chico Cemetery.
