SUPERIOR CEMETERY - Boulder County, Colorado Originally called Cemetery on Coal Creek, then Old Louisville Cemetery, now Superior Cemetery. Superior, Boulder County, Colorado Transcribed by Mona Lambrecht, 2001. Surnames: ADMIRE, ATKIN, BOWES, BUTCHER, CLARK, CLAYTON, DOWNING, EGGLESTON, ELLIS, EVANOFF, GILL, GOMEZ, HARRIS, HART, HUBACH, JACKSON, JURADO, KNIGHT, KOKENOS, LAWRENCE, LEMON, LIDEL, McKAY, MORTON, NEWELL, PHILLIPS, RAY, SEARCY, SEELEY, SHERATT, SHINKLE, SHOCKEY, SPICER, THOMAS, VAN OLINDA, WILSHUSEN, WOOD, WYLAM Directions from Boulder: Take Hwy 36 east to the Louisville/Superior exit. Turn left at the stoplight at the end of the ramp (going towards Louisville). Turn right at Dillon Road. Take Dillon Road approximately 1 mile to S 88th Street. Turn right onto S 88th Street. The next stoplight will be Health Park Drive, take a right. Approximately 40 yards from the intersection there is a small dirt road that is on the left, just east of Avista Hospital. This is a rutted dirt road that gets muddy very quickly so it’s possible you will need to leave the car and walk the 1/4 mile or so to the cemetery. The road follows a barbed wire fence and will go underneath Hwy 36. The tunnel is small and low, SUVs my not fit through. On the other (south) side of Hwy 36 the road will rise towards a small hill. The fenced cemetery is on top of the hill to the right. The cemetery is in poor condition and not maintained so be careful of cacti, yucca and prairie dog holes. Survey begins in southeast corner of cemetery. ---------------------------------------------------------------------------- The following information was compiled from current tombstone transcriptions, books and previous transcriptions (see references below). I can provide some additional genalogical information about a few individuals or families on request. You may email me at the above address and please be clear about your request. Not all individuals buried here have tombstones left. The cemetery wasn’t fenced in until 1976, so wildlife and grazing cattle have destroyed many of the stones. Section 1 lists the tombstones that are still standing. Every effort has been made to transcribe all the text on the stones. Comments in ( ) are by the transcriber. Comments in [ ] are from informational sources other than the tombstone. Section 2 lists individuals who are buried there based on compiled sources. ----------------------------------------------------------------------------- SECTION 1 ATKIN, Thomas William; July 1, 1880 - June 14, 1882.
