Dear Mr. Towner; Children of Sylvanus and Romelia Wellman, which were apparently six, all of whom are deceased with the exception of DeKalb, whose death is expected any day, appear in "Boulder County Pioneers": by Jennie E. Stewart. Her record follows; Sylvanus Wellman, born 9-19-1834 in Milford, Pa., came to Colo. in 1859 and married Romelia Towner, daughter of Reuben and Lucinda Towner in Boulder, Oct. 8, 1865. She was born in Hunter Co., N.Y., in 1846. He died 7-3-1896, Romelia also spelled Roumelia 7-6-22. Children were: Olive, b 4-11-1867; married Florus Williams, Boulder, 1-14-86; he died 1-25- 1937, she 9-4-44, no children. Frederick E., b 8-19-1869; married Emma Boeshar; he died 8-11-1911 in Boulder. Have no record of his wife or of three children born to them. Frank A., b 5-17-1873; d 12-27-1876 Mary L., b 11-16-1865; married 7-12-01 to Charles B. Eastman; he died in 1931, she 12-5-35. The had three children, Ada B. b 12-1-02 married 8-12-35 John Lunsford; Charles L. b 5-24-03, died 1936; Ruth B. b 5-15-05, married Gordon Beiswanger 1-12-26. (I suggest you write Mrs. Lunsford, 800 Grant Place, Boulder.) She can be of assistance to you and probably correct the information I am giving you. The Lunsford have children.) Sylvanus DeKalb, better known as Kal, b 12-1-72, never married, is a retired Boulder fireman who is near death as I said. J. Etta b 11-20-82, married Marshall E. Coons who died in 1911; on Nov 11, 1928 she married Otto Berger who later died. Mrs. Berger had two daughters, Edith M. Coons who married Charles M. Martettand is living I believe in Alhambra, Calif.; and Opal M. Coons who married Sterling R. Gardner and after their separation Kirk McDaniel. Both daughters have children. I believe Mrs. McDaniels' address is 421 Gregory Blvd., Kansas City 10, Mo. It is with her that Kal has been living since the death of Mrs. Berger. Glenn the youngest of the Wellmans died a number of years ago. In the summer of 1852 a Mr. and Mrs. Ben Johnson of Hunter, N.Y., were in Boulder on a visit to a daughter whose husband at the time was attending the university of Colo. He processed the records of Boulder City Town Co. which he said he found in a trunk of his mother Mrs. Ida Johnson whose mother was a Towner. They were left at Hunter apparently by Marcus W. Towner who was active in the formation of the company. Your letter inquiring about the Wellmans brought to mind the name of Marcus Towner which I had not previously assciated with the Wellmans. It may be that he was a brother of Mrs. Wellman. I am writing this letter for Fire Chief Frank Johnson since I have access to the records for which, however, I cannot guarantee accurancy. If you have records as to the dates of the death of Reuben and Lucinda Towner, I will appreciate it, also the place of their death. They may have died here, or like other pioneers moved away. Did you or your parents ever live in Boulder? Bery Truly Yours, A. A.
