The Granite Cemetery, also known as Cache or Cash Creek Cemetery, is located on County Road 398 about one and one-half miles west of the Town of Granite (Sec. 36, T11S, R80W, 6th P.M.). Take the road called the Lost Canyon Road that goes behind the Granite Store. A low vehicle is not recommended due to the ruts and rocks in the road. The earliest known burial is said to be that of an unknown 19-year-old male who died of pneumonia in 1860. The first marked burial is Jasper HAMMAN in 1878. The cemetery is still in use. As of September, 1982, there were 78 graves that had legible tombstones or markers. In addition, seventy or more unmarked graves were visible. Some had illegible metal funeral home markers on them, others old weathered wooden markers, or badly damaged tombstones. The BRADBURY family had recently placed wooden markers on the BRADBURY and GALVIN plots. If records were ever kept for this cemetery, they no longer exist.
