He is buried at Hope Lutheran Cemetery in Westcliffe, Custer County, Colorado. Obituary from the Wet Mountain Tribune - Thursday, September 4, 1980 Otto Fred Elze dies at age of 94 Funeral services will be held Sept. 4 at 1:30 Pm for Otto Fred Elze, late of Westcliffe. he died Aug Aug 30. at his home at the age of 94. Services will be held at the Menzel Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Jon Bredhoft officiating. Accompanying the congregational singing during the service will be Laura McIntosh. Serving as pallbearers will be Bill Elze, Jr., John Lindloff, Harold Schwarz, Alvin Lange, David Lange and Fritz Erps. Elze was born Nov. 9, 1885 at Westcliffe. he moved into town from his ranch in 1943. Later he was employed in a number of jobs. He was a member of the Hope Lutheran church. On Jan. 3, 1912 in Custer county, he and Laura A. Eikelman were married. In addition to his widow, he is survived by two daughters, Alma Lange and Gladys Elze, both of Westcliffe, and a son. Leo Elze of Pueblo, six grandchildren and 11 great grandchildren. Also surviving are three sisters, Selma Lensch of Westcliffe, Lena Rogers of Santa Fe, NM, Bertha Fischer of Denver and a brother, Fred Elze of Beatrice, Neb. Burial will be at the Lutheran cemetery at Westcliffe, Colorado.
