He was born April 19, 1916, in Westcliffe, Colo., and lived in Ontario for 47 years. Retired, he was a maintenance engineer at Pattons for 12 years. He was a World War II Army veteran. Mr. Elze is survived by his wife, Ida Mae; a daughter, Avis Jean Hearon of Anaheim; a son, Alan Gene Elze of Auburn, Maine; two stepsons, Robert and Michael Lawhon both of Ontario; and five grandchildren. Graveside services will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday at Rose Hills Memorial Park, Pinecrest Lawn, Gate 1, Whittier. Memorial contributions may be made to the American Diabetes Association, Memorial and Honor Program, P.O. Box 2680, North Canton, Ohio, 44720. Rose Hills Mortuary is in charge of arrangements.
