DELTA-- Joe Armour, 86 a Delta pioneer, passed away this morning at his home at 943 Vine Street here, after being in failing health a long time. Funeral arrangements were being made with Lamar Funeral home this morning and will be announced later. A former justice of the peace, Mr. Armour once drove a six-horse stagecoach out of Ouray over what is now the Million-dollar highway as a teamster and also served as teamster and constable in Delta during the early days of the town. He married Miss Margaret O'Rourke in Cherryville, Kan., July 25, 1887, and the couple farmed there eight years before moving to Delta with a team and wagon in 1895. They first lived on California Mesa near Mrs. Arnour's sister, Mrs. Wesley Mashburn. He was a member of St. Michael's Catholic Church. Surviving him are his widow, a son, J. F. Armour of Santa Ana, Calif., four grandchildren and numerous great-grandchildren. A daughter preceded him in death.
