(Wilson) Grand Junction Daily Sentinel Wednesday, Dec. 12, 1951 pg. 7 Nucla, Dec. 12 - Funeral services for Mrs. Ida May Burbridge, who was selected Colorado mother of the year in 1948, will be held at 10 a.m. Friday in the Nucla Community church. Burial will be in the Delta cemetery, directed by the Ormsbee mortuary. Mrs. Burbridge died Monday at St. Mary’s hospital in Grand Junction. She had been in ill health for 10 years and had been seriously ill for a year. Ida May Wilson was born March 24, 1890, in Walnut, Kansas. She moved to Ordway with her parents when she was 11 years of age and had lived in Colorado 50 years residing at Nucla 26 years. Before her marriage Nov. 9, 1908 to Charles William Burbridge at La Junta, she taught school. She was a graduate of Ordway High school. Active in all school activities in west end of Montrose County, she was a member of the Congregational church at Nucla and was a deaconess in the church. She also held active memberships in the Farmers Union and the Alpha sorority of the church. Her husband passed away in 1940. She leaves 12 sons, Charlie, George, Kermit, Edgar, Ward, Loyd Burbridge, all of Nucla, Herbert, who is stationed at Guesson, Germany; Alfred who is stationed at Fort Leonardwood, MO, Delbert and Virgil, both of Crested Butte, and John of Uravan; two daughters, Mrs. Merril Deal and Mrs. Lavarne Barnes, both of Montrose: three sisters, Mrs. Orville Callow of Manzanola, Mrs. Fred Secrest of Sturgis, SD. and Mrs. Rose Box of The Dallas Oregon; two brothers, Fred Wilson and Theodore Wilson both of Palm City, Calif., and 27 grandchildren.
