Delta County Independent Thursday July 26, 1973 pg. 2. A native Deltan, George David Butler, 35 of Leadville was injured in a mine accident in Climax July 24 and was reported dead on arrival at St. Anthony’s Hospital in Denver. He was one of five injured in the accident. He was a miner by occupation, a member of the Catholic Church and had served with the US Army from 1959 to 1962. He was born July 12, 1938 at Delta, son of Jack and Mary (Stark) Butler. He is survived by his parents who live in Delta; a four year old son David: a brother William B. Butler of Delta; three sisters Mrs. Margaret Nagel of Delta, Mrs. Cecilia Spangler of Grand Junction and Mrs. Patricia Noble of Kenai, Alaska. Rosary will be recited at 8 p.m. Sunday and Mass at 10 a.m. Monday, both services at St. Michael’s Catholic Church with Father Wilines officiating. Burial will be in Memory Gardens.
