Delta Independent Monday August 22, 1960 page 2 Rosary will be held at 7:30 o’clock tonight at St. Michael’s Catholic church for Bernard Butler, 50 who died Saturday morning at St. Mary’s hospital at Grand Junction of a self-inflicted gunshot wound. Graveside rites will be at 9 a.m. tomorrow at Memory Gardens of Delta. Father Joseph Kane will officiate at both services. Pallbearers will include Cecil Myers, Walt Leonard, Leroy Abbott, Bob Schmaltz, Gerald Dalla and Ernest Ensley. Roberts Funeral home is in charge of arrangements. Bernard Butler was born Nov. 26, 1909, at Delta. His parents, now deceased, were R. C. and Octavia O’Rourke Butler. He married Ester Zimmer in August, 1937., at Ouray. A mechanic by trade, Butler had worked at the Holly plant for a number of years. He also served as a member of the Delta police force at one time. In addition to his wife, survivors include two sons, Jim, of Moffat Field, Calif., with the navy, and Dick of Delta; a brother, Jack, or Delta, and two sisters, Mrs. Agneta Ensley of Delta and Mrs. Lola Henderson of Los Angeles.
