My place of residence is 2749 York Street, Denver, Colorado Second. My occupation is Engineer Third. I was born on the 15th day of September, anno Domini 1862, at Rumberg, Austria. Fourth. I emigrated to the United States from London, England on or about the 15th day of January anno Domini 1882, and arrived in the United States, at the port of New York, New York on the 10th day of February anno Domini 1882, on the vessel “Egyptian Monarch”. Fifth. I declared my intention to become a citizen of the United States on the 28th day of March, anno Domini 1887 at Denver, Colorado in the county Court of the then Arapahoe County. Sixth. I am married. My wife’s name is Jenny Alpenfels; she was born on the 11th day of February, anno Domini 1870 at Blackhawk, Colorado, and now resides at 2749 York Street, Denver, Colorado. I have five children, and the name, date and place of birth, and place of residence of each said children is as follows: William Francis Alpenfels, born July 19, 1891; Philip Julius Alpenfels, born July 24, 1902; Theodore Raymond Alpenfels, born September 21, 1905; Ethel Josephine Alpenfels, born Jun 16, 1907; and Herbert Leonard Alpenfels, born May 1, 1912. First – fourth born in Denver, Colorado. Last named born in Delta, Colorado. All reside at 2749 York Street, Denver, Colorado. Seventh. I am not a disbeliever in or opposed to organized government or a member or affiliated with any organization or body of persons teaching disbelief in or opposed to organized government. I am not a polygamist nor a believer in the practice of polygamy. I am attached to the principles of the Constitution of the United States, and it is my intention to become a citizen of the United States and to renounce absolutely and forever all allegiance and fidelity to any foreign prince, potentate, state and sovereignty, and particularly to Charles, Emperor of Austria and Apostolic King of Hungary of whom at this time I am a subject, and it is my intention to reside permanently in the United States. Eighth. I am able to speak the English language. Ninth. I have resided continuously in the United States of America for a term of five years at least immediately preceding the date of this petition, to wit, since the 10th day of February, anno Domini 1882, and in the State of ___________________, continuously next preceding the date of this petition since the 1st day of January, anno Domini 1882, being a resident with this State of at least one year preceding the date of this petition. Tenth. I have not heretofore made petition for citizenship to any court. Attached hereto and made part of this petition is my declaration of intention to become a citizen of the United States, together with my affidavit and the affidavits of the two verifying witnesses thereto, required by law. His first wife was Caroline (Gunther) Alpenfels; they were married on November 1, 1887 in Denver, Arapahoe Co., Colorado (the area is now part of Denver Co.). She was the mother of my Great-grandfather (Julius's eldest child), William Francis Alpenfels. Caroline died July 13, 1900 from Typhoid Fever while residing in Florence, Fremont Co., Colorado, where Julius was working as a mining engineer in the area mines. She and Julius are both buried at Riverside Cemetery in Denver, Denver Co., Colorado. They were also the parents to Edwin J. Alpenfels who died as a infant/toddler on September 11, 1889. He is also buried a Riverside Cemetery. Julius's 2nd wife was Jenne A. Johnson (not related to me) on October 21, 1901 in Denver, Denver Co., Colorado. Jenne was the mother of all of the other children listed on his Declaration. ***Note*** The birthdates of his children are not correct, close, but not correct.
