CRANSTON FORMER DENVER ATTORNEY, IS DEAD Was Active in Republican Politics; Has Lived in California for Years [photo] Earl M. Cranston, 69, formerly a prominent attorney here, died suddenly Saturday in Escondido, Calif., of a heart ailment. His son, Frederick Cranston, assistant city attorney of Denver, will start for Escondido Saturday afternoon. He said funeral services probably will be held there. The senior Cranston was one of the first graduates of Denver university and was one of its trustees until he moved to California thirteen years ago. He served as United States district attorney in Colorado, as Arapahoe county attorney and as a member of the state legislature. He was a member of the law firm of Cranston, Pitkin & Moore and prominent in Republican politics. Bishop Earl M. Cranston of Washington, D. C., of the Methodist Episcopal church, was his father. Mr. Cranston is survived by his wife, four children and three sisters. His wife is a daughter of Frederick W. Pitkin, second governor of Colorado. Her mother, who lived at her home in Escondido, died four years ago. The children, besides the Denver son, are: John M. Cranston of Hamilton, N. Y., and Mrs. G. G. Wilkins of Solana Beach, Calif. The sisters are: Mrs. Ethel Teneyhill of Philadelphia, Mrs. Frank L. Warren of Portland, Ore., and Ruth Cranston of New York.
