DILLION IS DEAD; OLD NEWSPAPER EMPLOYEE FOR 30 YEARS IN CIRCULATION DEPARTMENT OF THE REPUBLICAN, PREVIOUSLY WAS WITH THE NEWS. Jeptha S. Dillon, one of the oldest newspaper employees in Denver, died yesterday at his home, 1845 S. Sherman, after a week's illness with pneumonia. Dillon, who was 75 years old, had been for thirty years in the circulation department of the Republican. Prior to that time he was connected with The News in a similar capacity. Born in Ohio, Dillon removed to Illinois with his parents when a lad. He enlisted in the 118th Illinois regiment and served four years through the Civil War. In 1872 he came to Denver from Warsaw, Ill., where he had settled after the war. He had been a resident of the city since. Four years ago Mrs. Dillon died, but several children survive. They are: W. T. Dillon of Kansas City, Jeptha Dillon of Lafayette, Ind., E. P. Dillon of Pittsburg, and Mrs. Harry Horham of Denver. Dillon was an active member of Byron L. Carr Post. G. A. R., and one of the oldest and most active members of the Twenty-third Avenue Presbyterian Church.
