W. W. McIlvain, War Veteran Dies at Daughter's Home. Colonel William W. McIlvain of Enderlin, N. D., died yesterday at the home of his daughter, Dr. Maude M. Sanders, 854 Clarkson St. Colonel McIlvain was born in Champaign County, Ohio, in 1835. He enlisted in the Sixth Michigan infantry volunteers, took part in several serious battles and was wounded in Baton Rouge. In 1863 he moved to Fargo, N. D., becoming special land agent of the department of the interior. For ten years he had been commandant of the North Dakota Soldiers' Home at Lison. He was prominent in the politics of the state, being a stanch Repub- lican. He refused positions of political preforment, being devoted to the welfare of the church, the home and especially the public schools. Colonel McIlvain leaves a wife, a daughter, Maude M. Sanders of this city, Robert W. of Shreveport, La., and W. Frank of Carlsbad, N.
