The following is a description by Marie Schreiber Walker and/or Helen Mae Bacon Coyer of 26 of the 29 who are interred in the cemetery. 1. In March of 1932, at the age of 54, he married 20-year old Veryl Christiance; they divorced a few years later. He died in 1953 at the age of 75 of a cerebral hemorrhage (stoke). Note: tombstone erroneously reads b. 1880. 8. Charles Christian Schreiber (aka Carl Christian Schreiber), known as Christian Schreiber, b. 1840 d. 1924, a homesteader who came from Wartenburg, Germany in 1866 from a family of farmers. Settled in the Case-Rock Ridge area in 1871, buying 160 acres of homestead land from Leopold Noftz. He went on to purchase more land and later had to give up a homestead until he got his citizenship papers. His log house still sits along West Cherry Creek, next to the old turret house built in 1913. He married Caroline Moess on April 26, 1863 in Germany. They had 12 children; one daughter Luisa Caroline born in Germany died there, Gottlieb was the only child born in Germany who came to the US with the parents. Schreiber is listed on the 1880 Census. He homesteaded or bought Sec. 27-29, Twp. 9, Range 65W. 9. Caroline Schreiber, born Caroline Moess on June 1, 1841 in Germany, married Charles Christian Schreiber on April 26, 1863; died December 7, 1930. 10. Minnie Schreiber, b. 1881, d. 1906. His father was from Iowa, lived in the Goldale area and went to the Goldale School; he ran the Case Cheese Factory for a while and later moved to Denver. 12. Mabel Vail, born and died 1903; sister of Grantly C. Vail Jr. 13. Anna M. Whittier (Anna Mary Schreiber Whittier), wife of Clinton Ariel Whittier, b. 1870 d.1935. Anna is listed on the 1880 Census as daughter of Chas. Christian and Caroline Schreiber, in school, born in Colorado in 1870. The Whittiers lived just south of the Schreiber turret house. They had one child, Nelly Mae, who died in infancy and is said to be buried at the cemetery without a marker. Anna also had her own homestead in Sec. 29 and 32, Township 9, Range 65W that she jointly shared with her husband in 1908. Their barn still stands as a Gambrel style, with his brand C/W on the east side. It is located on the west side of Highway 83 and Lucas Rd. Clint Whittier was noted on the 1880 Census as being born in 1878. Clint came from Vermont; he's related to Washington Irving Whittier who homesteaded in the Rock Ridge Area, Sec. 35, Twp. 9, Range 65W and whose family was also from Vermont. Clint is buried at Cedar Hill, along with his mother Hattie, and brother Ivan who died as a young man. 14. Ora R. Adams, died 1891. According to Violetta (Bill) Fauver, Ora was a member of her family (the Whittiers). This grave is raised concrete with ornamental wire on the sides. 15. Rebecca Wires, born c. 1838, d. at age 53 in 1891. The wife of Alex Wires who homesteaded to the northwest of the cemetery in Sec. 7 and 19, Twp. 9S, Range 65W. Hannah Proctor, b.1806, d. June 18, 1870, at age 64 years and 4 mos. First wife of John Proctor. Both Hannah and John were listed on the 1870 Census. Hannah was 11 years older than John. Hannah was from Kentucky, John was from Iowa. There are two theories on the death of John Proctor. One, the account told to Jan Herman by Jim Hilyen in 1996, is that Proctor hung himself after the death of his second wife having lost two wives within two years, and is buried in an unmarked grave in a far corner of the cemetery and that the Hilyen family acquired the Proctor homestead, moved the house and attached it to their home at the Rock Ridge Ranch. The other theory is that Proctor sold his land and returned to Iowa, and on the way was attacked and robbed. There was another John Proctor age 24, a male farmer from Ohio, who owned 140 acres, had a wife Nancy age 20, with a child Joseph age 6 mos. born in Colorado. Nancy was from Iowa. It is believed this was the son of John and Hannah. 17. Mary Proctor, b. 1840 d. 1872 at age 31 years and 10 mos.; the second wife of John Proctor. 18. Willie Roberts, b. d. 1880. Son of J. and A. On the 1880 Census known as Katie, born in Austria, a wife and keeping house, with two children. 21. Anton Hagspiel Jr.; b.1847, d.1885; son of Katharina and Anton Hagspiel. 22. Alice Larson, d. July 14, 1906; infant daughter of C. and M. Larson. 23. Anton Hagspiel, b1843-d.1930, died at 87. Listed on the 1880 Census as a farmer, with a wife Katie, son Jos. age 3, daughter Annie age 1, as well as Katie Scaulgis age 14 a servant, and Thomas Scaulgis age 12 a boarder and farm laborer from Illinois. Anton and Katie were from Austria. 24. Esther Hilyen, b. 3/11/1841 d.1/2/1903; wife of Anthony Hilyen. She homesteaded a parcel in Sec. 27, Twp. 9S Range 66W. Anthony is believed to be the brother of Asher Hilyen. Not listed on 1880 Census. 25. Paulina Schreiber, also known as Paulina Minnie, b. 1879 d. 1880, died at the age of three months.
