He was of very strong Irish descent. He was the 2nd of three brothers to make the trip west. The first brother went to Texas and we know nothing of him. Then Samuel to Colorado and his brother followed shortly behind Samuel. His brother was Marquis Lafeyette Cathey and he and his family are buried in the ST. Philip of the Field cemetary. There is also another Samuel in that cemetary that would have been a nephew to him. Wilma is also a descendent of Marquis as I am. He was a true pioneer and its just sad that no one knows his story. Samuel Taylor Cathey was killed by a falling wagon (not of typhoid as I had said earlier, misinformation) He worked for a lumber company within pretty short distance of Sedalia. He was never married and never had any children. His only relative in Colorado at the time of his death was my great great grandfather Marquis (his brother). That probably explains the remote type of burial. We were always told he was buried in Douglas county but no one knew where.
