Is beautifully situated in the center of the West Creek Mining District, and is the largest town in the territory. It is the natural trading pint and business center for the various surrounding camps, Tyler, Manchester, Rrumbull, North-west, Cripple Creek, Oliver, Given and other new and thriving camps. It is connected by daily stages to Woodland Park on the Midland R.R. and also by several stage lines with South Platte, on the Denver, Leadville and Gunnison R.R., 22 miles distant. Direct Rail Road facility is expected in the near future, as the engineers are now making preliminary surveys. Several hundred claims are being worked, prominent among which are the Last Chance, Washington, Pittsburg, Ironback, Niagara, etc. While gold is the chief object here, there are indications that silver, copper, lead and other minerals abound. For the few months of development work hereabouts, the growth of the District and the richness of the prospects have far exceeded the sanguine hopes of the enterprising promoters. All that is necessary now is more capital, and there is no better tield in the world for investment. The population of the town is about 1,200, which with the surrounding camps will easily reach four thousand. There are good schools, churches, hotels and business houses, representing every line of trade and profession. There are two sawmills, and the surrounding hills and mountain peaks have an inexhaustible supply of Pine timber. There is a chamber of commerce, and good government. The citizenship is of an unusually high class. Among the other advantages, besides the mountains of undeveloped wealth, are first class water and water power. Game and fish abundance, pure air enriched with ozone, and the most picturesque scenery. All of which , with the iron mineral springs, make this highly favored locality a resort for both health and wealth. Two well conducted newspapers, The Gold Brick, and the West Creek News, furnish well selected literature and the worlds news. Lots and lumber are cheap, and now, while this field of enterprise is new, the businessman and capitalist will do well to investigate its claims. Mayor V.D. Bristol, or any other business or professional man on the following list will gladly furnish information regarding the wonderful gold district. Ackerman, L.P. - Motary Pub.
