Boot Ranch Cemetary, Elbert County, Colorado http://files.usgwarchives.net/co/elbert/cemeteries/bootranch.txt The cemetary is approximately 9 miles south of Elizabeth Colorado on CR114. It sits on top of a knoll with pine woods to the south and a vista to the west, south, and east of a rolling prairie-like valley sparsely peopled with some large homes. You can see Pikes Peak and the front range of the Rocky Mountains. The landowners have fenced the cemetary, however, the earlier landowners kept cows who walked thru the cemetary on a regular basis. This intrusion and time have broken down all headstones and eliminated others. The area inside the fence is approximately 45'x96' rectangular. There are approximately 5 depressions which most likely indicate the presence of graves, however there are no markers. There are 2 graves marked with the local natural stone; however there are no markings on these stones. It is simply obvious by the way the stones are standing that they are being used as markers. The other markers are marble and all have been broken either into pieces or simply off their base. Walked and transcribed by Beverly Rampey .
