WWI Veteran Burials, 1929 newsclip, Colorado Springs, El Paso County, Colorado Transcribed by Marta Norton 15 April 2000 The Colorado Springs Gazette and Telegraph Newspaper Sunday, November 10, 1929; Page 8 Lest We Forget Armistice Day again has come around, marking the eleventh since that memorable morning along the front when millions of men, tired of war and wounds and death received the tidings of a world peace. More than 129 brave men of the American forces lie buried in Evergreen or Fairview Cemeteries in Colorado Springs. Following months of work the American Legion cemetery committee, of which Roy H. Waters is chairman, has prepared as nearly a complete list of the dead buried here as is humanly possible. While not all the boys named here are Colorado men, all have resided here for some time and found their final resting place in the Pikes Peak region. The honor roll follows: FULL NAME AND RANK MILITARY ORGANIZATION DATE OF DEATH AND WHERE Adams, Isaac Clifton 139th F.A., 38th Div., A.E.F. Oct. 1924, Colorado Springs Argo, William Chenault S.A.T.O.
