Norvell, more familiarly known as Ruth Norvell, died Tuesday about 10 o'clock at the home of Ernest Duncan, where she was moved on Sunday. Mrs. Norvell came here from Missouri about six years ago. They had bought the Crow property and had liver there ever since. She taught a term of school at Corona and the next year, when here little daughter was but a few months old, she was operated on for cancer of the breast. After the operation she took X-ray treatments for over a year. The doctors pronounced her cured. Two years ago she again entered the teaching profession and remained at it. This spring she became afflicted with a terrible cough, and after having medical attention in the Springs for about two months, she decided to go to the May clinic where the found that the cancer had again started its deadly work, and that both lungs were nearly gone. Returning to Colorado Springs she again tried the X-ray treatments but could not stand them. Then and there only did she give up that she would not be able to teach the school she had contracted for the coming year. Her death, while expected after learning the nature of the case, was a shock to all friends. She was laid to rest Thursday at Calhan after services at the M.E. church. She leaves a Husband, little daughter, brother and foster sister to mourn her loss.
