Nulph Grave, Texas Creek Gulch, Fremont County, Colorado http://files.usgwarchives.net/co/fremont/cemeteries/nulph.txt S. D. Scott March 21, 2001 From Canon City, go west to Texas Creek. Turn north at the Texas Creek store, this is the entrance to the Texas Creek Gulch Trail. There is a parking area approximately 1/4 mile from the store with a BLM map of the area. From this point on, this is an ATV or four wheel drive only trail. It is rough in places, but quite passable with a 4 wheel drive vehicle. Continue on up Texas Creek Gulch Trail which follows the creek bed. Keep right at all forks in the road. Six miles from the bottom parking area, you will see a very well preserved log cabin on the left side of the road. On the front of the cabin over the door is written "Hill ' 70". Directly behind the cabin is the grave of Frank M. Nulph. There is a service headstone with the following inscription: Frank M. Nulph Sgt. 341 Field Artillery WWI July 27, 1896 - April 10, 1959 I would like to add that this is a very remote and beautiful place. The cabin is on private property, it is still used and is very well cared for. To those who venture up to see this remote gravesite, please respect the beauty of the cabin and the surrounding area, and help to preserve the history of the cabin. =================================================== Contributed for use by the USGenWeb Archive Project (http://www.usgenweb.org) and by the COGenWeb Archive Project USGENWEB NOTICE: These electronic pages may NOT be reproduced in any format for profit or presentation by other organization or persons.
