Deceased was a native of Germany and with her husband came to Colorado with the German colony from Chicago, under General Wulsten, in the spring of 1870 and settled in the Wet Mountain valley. She was born in March, 1833, consequently was nearly eighty years of age. Since the death of her husband, which occurred in December 1901, Mrs. Koch has made her home here and with her sons in Custer county. She came to Canon City [Fremont County] at the time of the death of the late Dr. E. C. Baldwin of Westcliffe early last month and was shortly after stricken with paralysis at the home of her son, Peter Koch, on Nineteenth Street. Recently she was taken to the hospital for treatment and a week or ten days ago sustained a second stroke of paralysis, from the effects of which she never rallied. She leaves four sons, all of whom are married and have families of their own. They are Conrad [1857-1940], Peter, [1859-1941], Fred [1861-1933], and Gustav [August, 1866-1941] and all are residents of Custer county, except Peter, whose home is in this city. Mr. and Mrs. Koch made their home here for a number of years and owned considerable property here. Last Friday her three sons came down from the Wet Mountain valley to see her but she was unable to recognize them. The funeral will take place from Wilson's undertaking chapel at 10 o'clock Tuesday morning after which the remains of the deceased will be interred beside the grave of her husband in Greenwood cemetery. Friends of the family invited to the obsequies. This file located at: http://files.usgwarchives.net/co/fremont/obits/k/koche.txt
