His age was 68 years. He was born at Frankfort on the Main [Breitenborn], Germany, and came with his wife and four boys to America in 1868 [1867], and lived for three years in Chicago. In 1871 they came to Colorado and joined a German colony in Wet Mountain Valley where they remained a year and then came to Canon City, which has since been their home. Mr. Koch as accumulated considerable property, owning two cottages on Greenwood Avenue, three on Seventh and two on Harrison, a house in South Canon and a ranch at Texas Creek. He put in the foundation of the First Presbyterian Church and has always taken a great interest in that organization, and at his request burial services were conducted from there. Deceased had many friends in this county, who will receive the news of his death with sorrow. The widow in Canon, a most worthy lady, and the sons living in this county, Frederick [1861-1933], Conrad [1857-1940], Peter, [1859-1941] and August [1866-1941] have our sympathy in their hour of sorrow.
