Koch, 90, a resident of Hillside [Fremont County] until recently died at a local hospital Sunday morning [January 26, 1958] following an illness of about two and a half years. Mrs. Koch had been hospitalized for nine months and prior to that time lived in Hillside. She was a resident of the state for 85 years, coming here from [Fort Smith] Arkansas where she was born on Jan. 11, 1868. On August 29, 1886, she was married to Fred Koch in Canon City. He preceded her in death in 1933. She was of Protestant faith. Surviving are two sons, Harry and Bert Koch of Hillside and three daughters, Mrs. Frieda Strianer [Strainer] of Canon City, Mrs. Jessie Tanner of San Jose, Calif., and Mrs. Beulah Houle of Salida [all now deceased]. Also surviving are 24 grandchildren and two sisters, Mrs. Mont[ana] Cody of Westcliffe, and Mrs. Mary Niles of Denver. A son, Oscar Koch, was electrocuted in 1934 on a power line in Canon and a daughter, Mrs. Vella Stacy died last May. Funeral services will be held at 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Holt chapel of the garden with the Rev. Ray Gilbert officiating. Burial will be in Hillside cemetery.
