All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/ga/gafiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Anne Koch http://www.genrecords.net/emailregistry/vols/00020.html#0004812 October 2001 Wet Mountain Tribune, July 28, 1944 Mrs. Marie Koch, Early Resident of Westcliffe, Dies Mrs. Marie [Noll] Koch, 76, resident of Custer County for more than half a century and of Canon City [Fremont County] for four years, died shortly after 4:30 Monday afternoon [July 24, 1944] at the home of a son, Chrisey Koch, First and Catlin [Avenue], South Canon. Mrs. Koch suffered a stroke some time ago and last week pneumonia developed. Born in [Breitenborn] Germany on June 19, 1868, she came to the United States when she was 21 years of age, going directly to Custer county. She was married at Westcliffe in November, 1889 to the late August Koch, prominent Wet Mountain valley rancher. He passed away here in November, 1941, after 51 years of residence in the valley, Mrs. Koch moved here. Surviving her are seven sons, Theodore of the armed services, Henry and George of Pueblo, Chrisey of Canon City, Ernest of Denver, Otto of Chico, Calif., and Gus of Hillside; and two daughters, Mrs. Elda Hunt of Denver, and Miss Katherine of Canon City [all now deceased]. Rosary services will be held at the Canon mortuary chapel at 7:30 Tuesday evening. Requiem high mass will be held at St. Michael's Church at 10 a.m. Wednesday, with burial in Greenwood Cemetery.
