All rights reserved. http://www.usgwarchives.net/copyright.htm http://www.usgwarchives.net/co/cofiles.htm ************************************************ File contributed for use in USGenWeb Archives by: Janet King JPerdue192@aol.com February 10, 2009, 9:39 pm Fremont County News Mrs. Annie Miller of Four-Mile Succumbs Today Mrs. Annie Elizabeth Miller, 66, who had lived in Colorado nearly all of her lifetime, passed away at 7:45 Thursday Morning at her home, Steinmier avenue, Four-Mile, after a four and a half month illness. Mrs. Miller came to this community from Walsenburg in 1943. She was born in Kirksville, Mo., on July 8, 1881, but moved to Colorado with her parents when she was only six years of age. She was married to the late John F. Miller in 1902 at Raton, N. M. Three daugthers and two sons survive, Mrs. Erma W. Towner, Mrs. Ruth Craig and John D. Miller, all of Canon City; Mrs. Frances Josephine Scott of Pueblo and Lee A. Miller of Walsenburg; also her mother, Mrs. Emma Jones of Canon City; a sister, Mrs. Myrtle Towner of Grandview, Idaho; and ten grandchildren. The Holt mortuary, which is in care of the body, will make an announcement later on funeral arrangements. Additional Comments: Annie Elizabeth Mackey was the daughter of Hiram and Emma Palmatier Mackey. She came to Colorado in the spring of 1888 in a covered wagon driven by her mother. Her father was sick with T. B. and died in Coal Creek, Colorado in 1893. Annie's only brother George Mackey drowned at 12 years while swimming in a water tank in Coal Creek in 1896. Emma was married the first time to George Bayliss by whom she had a little boy who died in infancy. They divorced and she was living in Rockvale, Colorado when she met and married her second husband John Franklin Miller. He worked for Pryor Mine Company in Huerfano County for 25 years. John died in Huerfano County in 1942. Annie died 1 April 1948. They are both buried in the Masonic Cemetery in Walsenburg, Colorado.
