The Rev. James A. Legg officiated. Cremation was held. Mr. Black was born Wesley Myron Black, the son of William Ansel and Cora Lee Keefer Black on February 20, 1913 at Mancos. Mr. Black's parents were ministers and thus took the family to various communities during Mr. Black's childhood. He lived in the southern Colorado communities of Pueblo, Canon City and Florence and also in Oklahoma. During World War II, he served in the United States Army with the 732nd Railway Operations Battalion, serving in the Ardembes, Raineland and Central Europe. Upon receiving his honorable military discharge, he returned to Colorado where he lived in Littleton. Black established the Metropolitan Insulation Company which he owned and operated for many years. Following his retirement Mr. and Mrs. Black lived in Littleton until coming to the Silt community in April of 1988. Mr. Black was united in marriage with Emily Marie Dysart in Denver in Feburary of 1961. On November 19, 1965 Mr. Black received a citation for saving the life of an injured man who fell 300 feet while mountain climbing near the Nellis Air Force Base in Nevada. Mr. Black was a member of the Free Methodist Church. He was preceded in death by two brothers, Lewis and Ansel and a sister, Leila Hayne. Survivors include his wife, Emily; a son and daughter-in-law, Myron and Frances Jean of Rifle; a daughter and son-in-law, Lelia and Joe Ayla of Denver; two brothers, Arthur C. Black of Pueblo and William Paul Black of Colorado Springs; 14 grandchildren, other relatives and many friends.
