Far­ris, 75, died Tuesday, June 21 - the day before his 76th birthday - at the Heritage Park Care Center in Carbondale following a long ill­ness. His many friends in the area attended the services held at 10 a.m. at St. Mary of the Crown Catholic Church in Carbondale to say good­bye to the man who was synonymous with the community's ranching heritage. Mr. Farris was born the son of John and Hildegarde Martin ~arris on June 22, 1912, in Alley Springs, Missouri He moved to the Eastern slope with his parents when he was 4. He was united in marriage to Agnes Blanc on July 19, 1933 in Glenwood Springs and the couple finally came reside 'ln -the.Roar­ing Fork Valley in 1937 where he ranched until his retirement a few years ago. His two biggest plea­sures were rodeo and fishing. Survivors include his wife, Agnes, of Carbondale; a son Doug, of Aspen; and four daughters: Doris Moser of Carbondale: Sylvia Tim­mermans and Emily Trujillo of Ft. Collins; and Reva Hessel of Vir­ginia. Other survivors include his brother Lowell "Sunshi ne" Farris of Silt; his sister Dove Hawkins of Pueblo; 22 grandchildren and six great grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents, one son, two brothers and one sister.
