Born in Greensboro, North Carolina, Wayne lived a life shaped by creativity, generosity, and a deep love for the performing arts. He is survived by his beloved wife, Dina, of 40 years, and his loyal dog, Denali. Wayne devoted decades of his life to live performance and community theater. As Directing Manager of the Ute Theater, he poured his heart into the work that became his life’s passion. Theater was more than a profession to Wayne. It was the calling that brought him to Colorado and the place where his gifts could shine brightest. Through his leadership, knowledge, and dedication, Wayne helped the Ute Theater grow as a gathering place for culture, education, and community. He brought an extraordinary variety of performances to local audiences, including dance productions, tribute bands, orchestra shows, and live stage experiences that enriched the lives of so many. Wayne’s impact extended well beyond the stage. He gave his time and energy in service to schools and communities throughout the Roaring Fork Valley and across the Aspen and Grand Junction areas. He was known for his kindness, his helpful spirit, and his ability to make others feel welcomed, capable, and inspired. Outside of theater, Wayne loved to travel, especially to Hawaii, a place that brought him joy and peace. He enjoyed watching rocket launches from his porch following his recent retirement and relocation to Texas. Wayne will be remembered for his love of musicals, performance, adventure, and the many lives he touched through his warmth, wisdom, and unwavering belief in the power of the arts. Wayne’s legacy lives on in the performances he championed, the people he mentored, the communities he served, and the love he shared with those closest to him. Additional Comments: In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made in Wayne’s honor to the New Ute Theatre Society (NUTS) which supports the Ute Theater and its community arts mission.
