M. Smith The R.M. Smith grave site is just a short walk north of where the town of Arrow was located in Grand County. It is one of 4 graves but is the only one with a headstone. The headstone is much newer than the grave. There is no sign indicating the cemetery, just a small trail from the old town site to the four graves. Inscribed on the headstone is: R.M. Smith June 28, 1842 Nov. 12, 1909 The town of Arrow (aka Arrowhead) started life as a railroad construction camp on the Moffat line over Rollins Pass (prior to the Moffat Tunnel). It became a ghost town prior to 1920 when forest fires burned the buildings and wood grave markers. The R.M Smith marker above is one of seven known burials in this abandoned cemetery.
