Tomichi Cemetery, Gunnison County, Colorado http://files.usgwarchives.net/co/gunnison/cemeteries/tomichi.txt Tomichi Cemetery is located approx 2 miles north of Whitepine on forest service rd. 888 off of state hwy 50. It is accessible by 4-wheel drive. First called Argenta, Tomichi Camp began due to silver finds in the area in 1880. The town's population reached nearly 1500. The silver crash in 1893 reduced the town's population. In 1899 a huge avalanche struck the town, destroying all buildings & mine machinery. Rodgers B. 1931 D. 1999 "Papa" - this appears to be more of a memorial marker attached to a stone a few feet from the cemetery, there is no obvious grave nearby There are 10 other graves that either have no markers or have wooden markers with no visible writing/markings. All graves are lined with rocks. One is surrounded by a wooden fence (in addition to the abovementioned).
