Hafen, PhD Associate Editor Charles Albert Johnson, a well known educator of Walsenburg, Huerfano county, was born at Sherman, Chatauqua county, New York, October 29, 1875, and is a son of Charles J. and Anna Johnson, both of whom were natives of Sweden. After completing his high school training in his native state, he entered Hamilton College and later attended the University of Wyoming, where he received the Bachelor of Arts degree in 1907. He also attended the University of Utah and the Colorado State Teachers College. The greater part of his active life has been devoted to the pedagogical profession, during which period he served six years as county superintendent and district superintendent of schools in Utah. He is a member of the Masonic fraternity and the Order of the Eastern Star, and also the Benevolent and Protective Order of Elks and the Woodmen of the World. He has membership in the Walsenburg Commercial Club and is a member of the Presbyterian church. On April 29, 1912, at Moab, Utah, Mr. Johnson was married to Miss Elizabeth Weckesser, who received the Bachelor of Arts degree at Ohio State University.
